This website has a subscriber membership that, uniquely, provides its own content for other members to use, alongside other useful information on all aspects of walking in remote areas. Run by husband and wife team, David and Chris Stewart from their base in the heart of the Lake District, the site now boasts over 3000 walks, all complete with downloadable route photos and Ordnance Survey maps. The site has walking routes for all abilities and interests, from Sunday stroller to ardent Munro bagger (Munro = a mountain over 3000 ft high).
With most of the walks available in an electronic format for use on handheld GPS units, the site also features a shop selling PC mapping software, the GPS units themselves and other walking related products. Amongst these are t-shirts supplied by TM since the inception of the web based business in 2001. Printed in 3 separate areas on the shirt, they read, appropriately; ‘I know where I’m going’ on the front and ‘Follow me’ on the back, with the Walking World web address featured on the hem.
